Your last sentence pegged it. The casino is there for the convenience of
the guests. A few years ago, the casino & the one in Las Vegas were part of
the hotel operations. Then they were separated & are their own profit (?)
center. Then the hotel in LV was sold & I believe Lake Tahoe is the only
casino in the Hyatt family now. The best reason for staying & playing there is
the setting in which they did a magnificent job of inserting a hotel &
preserving as many of the tall trees as possible. Of all the casinos that I've
been to, it has the most beautiful natural surroundings by far & it also
owns the lakefront beach by which it sits.

In my personal experience I have had the Hyatt Incline Village stand
behind and watch me play a crappy return slot or VP for half an hour. I have
gone there with a friend pushing 40 who does not look close to under 21 but
have been asked for ID multiple times in the same evening. In all the casinos
I have set foot into I have never had close to a more intrusive experience
than the Hyatt. It could just be as easy as too much staff with nothing to
do.
