So the deal closed after a year of approvals from multi-state gambling
commisions, Canada, the tribal Gaming commision and even the shareholders on Monday
the 28th. Heck they closed it early. The deal's terms would have penalties
starting March 1st if not consumated.
Most us just called the parent company by its stock symbol, HET. This really
wasn't an acronym for the Harrahs Corporation, but did distinguish it from
the brand of the subset Harrahs casinos. A Venn diagram helped in defining the
relationships.
But the entity went private. No more stock symbol on the New York Stock
Exchange...HET.
So what do we use now...a "casino group formally kwown as HET" for a moniker?
The vpFREE administrator already changed the database listings to "Hamlet
Holdings". Is "HH" good enough to convey what we mean when talking about the
company that owns or operates 40+ casinos wordwide?
Hamlet Holdings is the partnership of two private equity firms. Apollo
Management and TPG Capital (Texas Pacific Group) now wholly own the entity
formally known as HET. I think TPG also has a piece of Stations casinos.
So is it "HH" for short? Evil Empire still works for most of us, I believe.
Is "EE" better than "HH"?
