I absolutely agree with you and do not understand the bean counting
mentality of the casino bosses.
My husband goes where I am happy. He sits in the race book all day while I
play VP. He then goes to the craps table. I bring my family. They play slots
and roulette. I tell all who will listen how great a get-away it is to a
casino where there is top entertainment, food and amenities and many diversions
for a great time. They come and play anything that's out there-however they
go where I go.
I have written letters to such owners as Boyd and Gaughan saying as much.
No matter how good a paytable is- i.e.: FPDW: there is still a house
advantage. It takes a long time for a strategic player to actually win/break even
because they will always go to that machine and have as many losing sessions
as winning sessions; however that same machine will bring many, many
non-strategic players. Yes, it may not bring in as much as a poor DW version, but it
will bring in the people! Why don't they understand that??? They are only just
looking for the bottom line on that machine!
Marketing 101: Get the customers in the store!
I know, I'm preaching to the choir.

As the powers to be make it more and more difficult to find good VP pay
tables, they are not only losing the VP players they are losing the people that
travel with them. Like my wife and our neighbors. They love to play video
keno, Sun and the Moon, Tiki Torch and a host of other slot machines that are
very profitable for the casinos. We are starting to find that our local Indian
Casinos are becoming more and more attractive and competitive with VP
paytables and we don't have that long drive to Las Vegas. I say so what if the VP
player wins more often than the other slot players. The people that travel with
them more than make up for what I might win on occasion. I keep pushing our
group to go to LV but I may soon agree to stay in our own backyard.
