Last night I was at my local casino play in one of their daily
tournments. It was a $50 buy-in No-Limit Hold'em. I had built my stack
to almost $8,000 (roughly $7,700 or $7,800). With the blinds at $150/
$300 I was involved in a hand with a gentleman in seat 8 (I was in seat
4), who I noticed played super-tight like myself.I was dealt Ah Qh and
called the BB as did seat 8 both blinds folded pre-flop. The flop came
As Kd Ac. I bet out $600 and was called. The turn came Kh giving me
aces full of kings, I bet $1,500 into a pot roughly $2,250 and was
promtly re-raised all-in.
At this my hand did not look as good as before. As I said I noticed he
only played when he had a hand like myself. After about 5 minutes of
thought I concluded that there was only 1 hand at this point (accordly
to the board) that could beat me (quad Kings), but I was not willing to
go broke to find out. I tolded the gentleman I was playing "very nice
hand and showed him my Ace before folding. He replied was as follows....
"Are you a pro? You must a be a pro, because only a pro can lay down
Aces full." He then showed me his cards before tossing them into the
muck Ks Kc. I was right this time and save some enough money to bust
out an hour later.
As for being a pro...... I'm not a pro but I can say I played like one
for that one hand. I guess that's why they say don't just play the
cards play the man too.
Good luck all and hope to see you on the felt,
James
