Harry,
My experience in Las Vegas is a little different than yours in Reno.
I am doing a Gambling with an Edge show on Wednesday about gambling during COVID. I have a couple ideas. 1) you could send me more detailed info about your experiences and I could incorporate them into the show. 2) You could join the show on Wednesday.
I have not approached Bob or Richard about this new wrinkle. I wanted to see what you thougth before approaching them.
And again, let me know your October plans. If the timing works out ( 10/23 - 10/27) maybe we could meet at Hugo's for dinner.

I've played at 2 LV properties and 2 Reno properties thus far this trip (2 to go before returning to GA). I've been uniformly impressed by procedures implemented in the casinos to ensure a safe environment as well is patron diligence in wearing masks.
I previously commented a high degree of satisfaction in my late June visit to Reno. My experience is that compliance is even stronger now. I see far fewer players with a mask dangling off one ear, or draped around their chin to accommodate a beverage or smoke. I was impressed that one casino went as far as to offer "instruction" to only temporary shift your mask down between sips/drags. In 5 active days of play, I've only witnessed one player (an older 70+ age man) who repeated flouted the mask instruction, despite 3 intrusions by floor staff to urge him to keep it in place.
Playing in Reno this weekend, I was alarmed to encounter filled to capacity self-parking lots/garages and began to second guess entering the properties. However, the majority of patrons are very conscious about maintaining distance. (I'd suggest I'm perhaps one of the worst "violators", momentarily at least ... I keep lapsing into closing up the gap when I first queue up; a look around has me quickly backing up.)
If I could have a casino improve on one thing, it would be expanding the spots at which disinfectant wipes are provided. Attendants have been fairly proactive in wiping machines down between players, but it's understandable under full house circumstances that they can't be 100% vigilant. The greatest telltale sign that a machine hasn't been disinfected since the last player are remaining beverage cups or cigarette ashes. Even if you come across a machine that looks clean, you can't be sure. I really would like to see wipe dispensers positioned so that there's one within a 50 ft distance of any spot in the casino (prominently marked for easy spotting) ... oh, yeah; it would help if they're refilled frequently; I think the "empty" rate is running 20%+)
But even here, my complaint is very modest. Faced with an "untidy" machine, generally speaking a flick of the attendant light brings reasonably prompt attention and a conscientious disinfection.

Glad things worked out! Would you mind commenting on mask wearing social distancing etc. Thanks in advance.
