Re: [vpFREE] Anyone taking health precautions when playing?

RW, I find your reply timely ... it brings home just how much our collective perspective has been shaken and rocked over the last 2+ weeks.  Speaking for myself, it's precedent setting; even "9/11" didn't transform my perception of the things I took for granted to this magnitude.

In my original post, I simply sound naive in hindsight.  I hadn't imagined we would soon face such a divide between what we know about the current situation and what we still haven't a clue about.

The benefits of employing a "Social Distancing" strategy (a term which I imagine will become a euphemism for so much more ;) ) to cope with realities of COVID-19 are manifest.

However, what shape an effective strategy takes to continue to avert an overloading of emergency/medical resources is entirely uncertain.  How long must we "distance" before we can return to normal activities without threatening a renewed infection flare up?  So long as there's a majority of the population that hasn't been exposed to the virus, it seems the original vulnerabilities are in place -- at least until a vaccine is viable.

I suspect COVID-19 will share a distinction with "The Computer" as being non-human designees of Time Magazine's "Person of the Year" and that 2020 will come to be know as the "Year We Sheltered".

Interesting perspective- On the suggestion from someone on the group, I set up all vpFREE emails to move to a folder on March 5th. Since I usually just use mobile to read emails the folder didn't show up as unread. So today I read the 88 emails starting with Harry's post about precautions and it is interesting how all our thoughts have evolved over the last few weeks. I have been busy in my other gambling- the stock market, LAS and WYNN selling 50% below January price and 5% dividend looked great but now even lower. Yes, I caught some falling knives but I have a long term view. Optimistic of a return to normal at some point to be determined.

I'm getting ready to book my first casino trip in 5 months (still prepping our house  for sale and for the move from GA to MA).

So, I'm curious how actively players are engaging in against COVID-19 (much less, seasonal colds this spring).  I generally break out the hand sanitizer around this time of year and liberally apply it to machine buttons before playing.  At minimum, I'm considering upping that game to latex gloves.

Obviously masks are in vogue lately.  Until US incidence spikes up a bit, I'm inclined to forego that precaution -- guess I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this would be "overkill" for now and focusing my attention on limiting surface contact.  But I guess I'll keep a mask at the ready in the event that someone is actively coughing (it seems impossible to avoid "smoker's hack" in the casino).

I look to completely avoid buffets.  (And with at least one LV confirmed case today, I would think casinos would find it most prudent to shut down buffets until this risk has mostly passed.)  That's not to say that full service restaurants are sterile environments ... but at least I look for some daily screening of workers who'll come in touch with my food.

I'm opening discussion with an intent that there be no alarmist posts; just looking for some thoughtful and reasoned commentary.
