For many years, while living in San Diego, we've planned to retire to Las Vegas. Meanwhile, the local casinos have improved significantly, while the ones in Nevada are becoming less inviting to VP players. My latest plan was to live somewhere near Green Valley Ranch. So, I played there some and got good offers. I played heavier, moved up to Platinum, almost to the President level. That's when my offers dried up. I'd be lucky to get a weekend room with no free play, food comps, gift cards, etc. I played primarily at the $ level on the "Up to 99.8%" machines.<<
I'm actually going through this process right now...I looked at places all over the valley during the summer (a person could spend 8 hours a day for weeks looking at all the places listed on-line) and decided I wanted to stay someplace "more central" to the strip/downtown rather than someplace that's a half hour or more drive away. The Orleans will be in my neighborhood (I'll be on West Hacienda). I play a lot at the Boyd Casinos, but I would have been happy living near a Stations Casino too...I know that conditions can change real fast and I didn't want to pick a place to live strictly because it was near one specific casino- I just wanted to be in the general vicinity of something.
