I tested this myself today and I'm convinced that yes, we do lose
partial tier credits whenever the card is removed from the machine.
I played 8/5 BP that takes $60 coin-in to earn each tier credit. I
removed my card after playing each $20 coin-in until I had played $100
coin-in. My tier credit balance stayed the same the entire time
although I should have earned one tier credit after playing $60
coin-in.
I also confirmed this with a players club rep who I know to be knowledgeable.
