I'm *really* glad you stood up and went the extra step to deal with the nasty person who tried to prevent you from using a perfectly good coupon. Some coupons might specifically say "Monday thru Thursday only" or "Breakfast Only", but if nothing is spelled out, its consumer fraud to reject a coupon like that, especially because we as consumers go through all the extra steps of planning, driving and parking or taking shuttles, walking, only to show up and for them to try to pull something like that.
On a gentle note, for just about all casino 2-for-1 buffet coupons, they require you to have a players card to use the coupon, but the "for the price of one" has always been the non-player price. They are still great values though in situations you don't have comps.
While I like both Orleans and Gold Coast, on our most recent trip we were actually staying at the Orleans, and ran into a similar situation with a nasty cash register lady at the Gold Coast.... I had my wife and 2 children, my wife and I both had 2-for-1 coupons we wanted to use for the 4 of us, and the Gold Coast cash register lady tells us the beneficiary of each "get one free" needs to be 21 or over. I turned the coupon over and said the user of the coupon needs to be a player over 21, but it says nothing about the beneficiary of the "get-one-free", she disagreed, and I asked her to get a manager. Well, it embarrassed my wife so much, I actually didn't go the extra steps I normally would have, and ended up paying the players rate of $8 each for the kids, and $10 on just one coupon for my wife and I, making it $26 instead of $20. However, I would also say our server at the Gold Coast Buffet was wonderful, my wife was scared I was going to stiff her because of the coupon rejection, but no I always tip the buffet drink servers.
