I have literally not been in a cab since Uber and Lyft returned to Las Vegas. I always put the destination in both apps, and compare wait times and prices. There is usually a slight difference in both. Then, I either pick the lower price or shorter wait time, depending on the situation. They are truly better than cabs in every way, with the possible exception of pickup/drop off location (many casinos have them pick up and drop off at a designated area, rather than the main entrance).I have several bad cab stories over the years including countless long hauls, a driver who was almost certainly on meth and drove like a maniac, one who tried to push me to go to some sketchy off strip "massage parlor" and actually drove me there even though I told him no (I refused to get out, and he eventually took me to my destination), and one screamed at me at the main valet for only tipping $5 on a $20 ride (i was being dropped at Bellagio...I think he assumed I was rich, which I am not!).
