The app is a free download but there is a one time charge if you really use it. Called WinLoss for Slots. I can't remember exactly how many but I think the free part was for the first 10 or 15 records. I currently have in excess of 250 records accumulated on my phone. The charge for unlimited records is kind of like for a bottle of cheap wine except the wine is soon gone but your data will remain (if you back it up).
You are right, data backups are important. Phones may not last forever but taxes do. There is a whole discussion in the app as to how to back up the data. I never lost my iphone but I did have it die on me once. I have a Mac Air computer and use it to charge the phone every day. ITunes does the backup automatically. When I got my new phone, I restored the phone backup stored on the computer and it was like nothing ever happened. I also backup the computer on a regular basis.
I too have long been a fan of Apple products. They may cost a little more but you get good value for money. The stuff works well and the service is excellent.
