Re: [vpFREE] Re: TR Vegas Casinos Monitoring VP Play For Comp Drinks

The system works fine at the Atlantis in Reno. As explained to a friend of
mine and I by a bartender at the bar near the sports book who knows us as
regular customers, the system was put in place to keep the deadbeats out. A
person can get their first drink free with a buy in but insufficient play
will negate refills or additional orders. We have never had a problem
getting whatever we wanted at that bar including what they consider to be higher
end spirits and wines.
In some way, this is part of the continuing downward spiral of service and
amenities that we have come accustomed to. Charge for parking, add to the
price of a hotel room disguised as a resort fee, make the odds of games that
they already have an advantage on worse (pay 6:5 on blackjacks instead of
3:2 and hit on soft 17), take the power of the pen away from the pit boss
to be able to write a comp to a player that they deem deserving or that they
care to write one to, etc. And now, make sure that the customer deserves
their free drinks! None of these changes are truly for the better.
On the other hand, if this makes the job of the server easier as a decision
is rendered for him or her automatically, or may I say, mathematically,
and service is better and or machines are not overpopulated with ploppies and
dregs as a result and or a real player can more easily find a seat at a
game that they desire to play at a bar, then maybe there are some redeeming
factors. The system does seem to work well at the Atlantis.
Reno (Atlantis) has been doing something like this for years. They have
some sort of counter behind each machine at a bar, so a bartender can keep up
with those that are not really playing.
