Sorry I took a while but now I can tell what I mean about not turning off machines. A lot of promotions go on for the full day and a lot of gamblers can finish it if the one ok machine is not turned off. For example 5x points for the first $50,000 coin in. Let's say this machine were being played all day, well now 5 players can max out (good). If this machine is turned down for a player to sleep well maybe only one or two players can max out. This is selfish. This is what I meant by getting the torture over with and getting your coin in all at once and moving along to let someone else play. Max players can get max coin in this way. What I might do is get to machine early and sit there or play very, very, very slowly (one coin every 2 minutes or so). If someone wants to relieve me - great, we can play "let's make a deal" (I never knew I was the new Monty Hall), I control the conditions. If not I might be there for 10 hours or more (5 before promotion starts and 5 to get my max coin in). I will play through exhaustion without taking food break or sleep. When I finish I will leave and the machine will open up for someone else. If that player and subsequent players are like me the maximum number of players can max out. Of course I might make a deal with someone to relieve me for a few hours until I come back to finish out my play (notice that someone is playing for these hours so maximum number of players getting maximum points is still being achieved). In Bob Dancer's column the promotion might go on for the entire day with no limits on points earned to 5x say. He gets there early and turns off machine until promotion starts. Well unless he was planning to play the entire 24 hours how about staying there until promotion starts in order to make a deal with someone to take over at a particular time. There is nothing so discouraging as to arrive at a turned off machine. Bob had a saying in his column (do one to others before they do one to you). I prefer the less antagonistic saying "don't let them do one to you". Players please be considerate to others and think "get the torture over with and let others play". I think if everyone thought this it would be a better place for gamblers everywhere. On my part I will NEVER turn down a machine. I hope everyone now understands my reasoning.
