While I have played the same game there ($2 Double Bonus Deuces Wild) many times, $2 NSU is probably a "better" choice. (I say that knowing full well that "better" is subjective opinion and people differ on the importance of what's important.) The return goes down from 99.81% to 99.73% but the W2Gs go down as well. You avoid the every 2565 hand Five Aces $1600 jackpot. The DBDW machines are all old, while some of the NSU machines are newer and in better repair.

the variance of NSU is MUCH lower (that cuts both ways according to people's preferences) --- and the attention it draws is much lower as well. There are dozens of NSU machines around the place and you can switch locations easily. All of the DBDW machines are in one place and, when full, one or more of the machines is "always" hitting a jackpot. That causes attention --- and players seeking longevity aren't fans of attention

Assuming you can play $10,000 coin-in per hour, the promotion is still worth more than $40 per hour playing $2 NSU --- before counting mailers and drawing tickets. You may have better plays around town, but for many it's still worth exploiting,

The main thing I will miss about the DBDW machines was that the high limit room was generally much less smoky than the casino floor in general. That was a primary reason I played the game. Playing in the main casino there is probably a show stopper for me.
