Other than the $5/$25/$100 machines in Las Vegas I'm not aware whether, or not, the coin-in requirement has increased. We try to play multi line quarters where available and will be watching what happens to those.
You mention Horseshoe, Southern Indiana. There are no longer any full pay machines according to VPFree2.

The bonus at the 2500 point level, which started in 2013, was great for us as low diamonds. Two $25k sessions - fairly large for us but doable - and the card is earned for another year.
