Bob B., how come you don't think this sounds so good? I don't want to argue with anybody, but maybe you know something about the situation I do not.
I have never set foot in the Hacienda, even though I live pretty close to it. Reading about what they presently have to offer in promos and games (in VPFree2 and occasionally in Scot's Vegas Values),I have never felt compelled to check it out.
I don't work for Dotty's or any other gaming establishment.
I have some sympathy for the family that owns Dotty's. A decade ago, they presented their business model to Nevada Gaming for approval. They were sneered at, and told that their business would never work. They were given approval.
Since then their idea has really taken hold in the Las Vegas/Henderson area, and they have even spawned imitators, like Jackpot Joanie's.
Now, years later, Gaming is changing the rules that they had previously approved, demanding that Dotty's retrofit their stores to include bartop games. Of course, the whole business model is to attract people who want to gamble in a smaller place that ISN'T a bar. Women feel safer.
Another huge expense is the demand to put in full service kitchens, to make a "tavern."
The Fertitta brothers saw Dotty's as a threat to their customer base, and have asked Gaming to change the rules that had been previously okayed. It appears, to me at least, that Gaming has caved to Station casinos about this.
Dotty's has had, for some time, a good promo that turns one of their games into a good play. Also, they give good bounceback cash.
I am eager to see what they might do at the Hacienda.
