They pulled out all of the decent games after a day and a half. All way-sub-98% at this point. It made for quite a show. Oddly, very few players went after this.
Someone should give the Plaza lessons on how to design player's club benefits in a way that won't drive off the very customers they're supposedly trying to attract. What they've ended up with is a system that gives benefits of questionable value to a very small group of elite card holders, and does little for reel players, who are almost certainly going to be more profitable for the casino. To facilitate this, they've decimated VP to the point that even most unskilled local players, who should be the casino's bread and butter, will refuse to play.
Post-remodeling, the Plaza rooms are nice. So that could be something to go after. I find the Plaza a pleasant place to spend time at this point, although one must make allowances for the somewhat rough around the edges downtown manners of staff.
The (Las) Vegas Club, on the other hand, continues its slide into oblivion. The whole back half of the building is a scary mostly-abandoned warren of dark, narrow passages. The hotel rooms were terribly run down as of a year ago or more. Will they eventually remodel? Can they come up with the cash? If you want to see a museum of antique video poker machines, this is the place for you.
