Do the machines at the Rio have the touch screen on them for drink ordering? If so, they display your name and tier level unless you press the 'hide' button. Maybe that is where they saw your name.

The only game I bother to play at the Rio is the short-pay
Pick-a-Pair...and that's only on the very rare occasions when I happen to stop by there to
see if the inventory has changed. (Last time, I was staying over at the
Gold Coast and wanted a change of scenery for a while.) If you're in that
part of town, the best play seems to be the couple banks of 100%+ machines
over at the Palms.
But, related to the "player tracking" thread, I was surprised earlier this
month when I stopped at the Rio and after playing for a few minutes the
drink server came over and called me by name and asked if I wanted anything.
So, I guess the cocktail people also have access to information about who h
as their cards in which machines.
