I believe that there is a limited "long run" expectation for folks who play a few hours once every month (or year) or so. I used to try to talk my mostly quarter player visitors into only practicing and playing FPDW. (I live in Las Vegas.)
However, it IS their money. I give them the information, and it is up to them.
That being said, I am not happy to see casino patrons playing bad paytables when better ones are available a few feet away. Bean counters upstairs see that people will play lousy paytables, and that will give then the justification to downgrade good ones.
If I were in a casino with lousy VP and wanted to gamble, I'd check out live blackjack. The house edge is small if one learns basic strategy. A good, free BJ trainer can be found at hitorstand.net. At a low limit table where most of the seats are taken (which slows down the game), you probably won't lose much. And, more than likely have a lot of fun. Don't be afraid to try table games. If you learn basic strategy, you'll know more than most people at the table, including the dealer.
Not knowing what the blackjack situation and rules are on the U.S. East coast, my feelings won't be hurt if my well-meant advice is criticized. Also, I do realize that this a VP forum. I'm attempting to let people know that there are alternatives to playing a bad game.
