I'm thoroughly confused right now. Does Ohio withhold 4% or 6% from W2-G jackpots? I've had reports of both of these figures, but I assume it is standard across the state. Can some of you actually look at your W2-G's and verify the percentage in the "State tax" box.
I just received this from someone who lives outside the Cleveland city limits, but plays at Cleveland Horseshoe Casino:
<<I just received another W2g this past Friday. Box 14, labeled State Income Tax withheld, has 6% of my jackpot total. Nowhere on the W2g is there any mention of City Tax.>>
This verifies the previous info I had that Cleveland only taxes residents so would only withhold for residents. Since Columbus and Cincinnati taxes both residents and non-residents I believe that both of those withhold city taxes for everyone. Can some of you personally verify those details by looking at your W2-G's from each of those cities, and be sure to add whether you are a resident of that particular city.
This subject may put me over the edge!!!! I've combed the Internet and not found this specific information.
