So far, there appears to be a variety of answers to the questions.
I am an out of towner. Here is what I was told recently at the Main St. Station players' club in response to my question: "Now that I am Sapphire, how do I keep that status?"
Your status is determined by your play over the previous twelve months. Play that is more than twelve months in the past is dropped from consideration.
In my case, I reached sapphire by accumulating about 32,000 points in February, 2012. The status is good until Feb.28/13. If I do not put on at least another 25,000 points by that date, sapphire will be gone. That's not an issue now, since I put on about 28,000 points in September. I assume I am now good until Sept.30/13.
