To clear the record.
I did no research I just referenced a licensed attorney whose practice is focused on gambling. His opinions are directed to Nevada although he does rely in part on other state's precedents.
I thought everyone would understand my language, but I could have been clearer. When I paraphrased Nersesions statement that the money did not belong to the casino. it was in the context of a third party finding the money, and that the casino did not have a superior claim. Obviously unclaimed property is a different matter.
I think the term "cashing out" is almost universally understood to include vouchers. For example, if you listen to the radio segment Bob Dancer mentions pushing the "cash out button."
Some of the questions raised could be clarified by listening to the tape. Since I posted the episode and the time. it should be fairly easy.
In my opinion it is difficult to rely on stories on the web, and the opinions related to Nevada.
It is not always reliable to research legal issues on the internet. You might find a statute that a court has interpreted differently or miss other statutes that control over the one you found.
In fact I found a statute that may or may not apply. I will forward it to Gambling With an Edge. I don't want to add to the confusion on vpFREE when I'm not sure of its interpretation.
