In reality there was never an accrued comp account (except for live
poker players) at Hollywood Lawrenceburg. Hollywood based the award of
comps on the last 9 trips and past redemptions. As a test I went into
the gift shop prior to the end of the year and I couldn't even get $30
in merchandise, because I had not played at all that day. If I really
had an accrued comp balance this would not have been an issue. Going
forward with the new program my play jn a given day will have no impact
on whether or not I can get a comp.
Hotel comps are not affected by this change and you still get monthly
coupons for the steakhouse and dining establishments as well as
discretionary host offers. I have a hard enbough time using the free
coupons I got each month let alone worrying much about other casino
comps. I find the discretionary comps for concerts and sporting events
(suites at Reds or Bengals for example) outside the casino to be of more
value to me than getting extra buffets at the casino. This will not be
impacted by the change.
Also the direct cash back rate is not impacted (unless you normally earn
more than 25,000 points in half a month) by the change, but now you have
to wait a month to redeem. No issue for me there. As long as the
bounce back offers stay where they are for my level of play, this whole
new system has little impact to my decision to play at Holllywood.
My first playing session this year at Hollywood showed I was getting ~
0.15% comp rate. Nothing to write home about, but better than Caesars
and comparable to Belterra myChoice rates. Note I concentrate my play
on one bank of machines, but with the varible point rate at Hollywood
you may find this rate to vary widely depending on what you play.
I like having my play spread out a bit among the local casinos to
maximize my options, but if you like to focus on one casino to
concentrate your play you may want to consider Belterra even if it is
less convenient. You'll likely get a better bounce back rate and there
are some real tangible extras to be had especially if you get to Owners
Club level. If you are Executive Producer at Hollywood, then the $1.75M
coin in to get Owners at Belterra should not be a stretch.

and basically erased hundreds of dollars in food and hotel comps from my
account. I'm in their top tier and am seriously considering taking my
play somewhere else from now on. The next closest would be Belterra
Casino and resort, but it's not that convenient. What have others done
in this situation? By the way they gave me $25 in food checks so I
could get dinner, but they forgot to mention that they expire within 48
hours of you requesting them, so another $15 just went down the drain.
