Well the Playboy Club was closed. Tom went to sleep and after a little rest (I must be getting old) I went back to the Palm's casino to play my remaining free play. I played it and about $120 of my own and lost, lost, lost. Went back to my room at 1:30 AM.
Monday morning checked out of the Palm's. I wanted to use what I had in my account towards my spa bill. Check out lady said I would have to see a host, so I went back in to VIP check-in, talked to a host who said I had to go to Club Palm's to get a voucher and then bring it back. Too much work and really inconvenient so I said just forget it. I guess the ease of using points at CET has spoiled me.
Drove over to Flamingo, went to Diamond/Platinum check-in, there wasn't anyone else in there so I got checked in quickly. I did the $20 thing and got a great room (Go Room) with a great view of the Bellagio fountain. When I left check-in there was a line. Timing is everything.
We walked to Harrahs hoping the Rose Deli was back open but it wasn't so we went to The Cafe and shared an appetizer. Played some Keno and won $5 and lost $10. Went back to Flamingo and started playing some unplayable vp while I waited for the slot tournament registration to begin.
A lady sat down next to me and after playing for a little while she asked me why the pay out amounts on her machine was less than mine. I told her we were playing different games. So I showed her how to change her game. Then she started asking me what cards she should hold. I helped her about 6 or 7 times then I decided to move because I couldn't concentrate on my game and that makes unplayable unbearable. I told her as I was leaving that I would give her the best tip of all, get a TR card and she said she didn't need one. Ok.
I went to another STP quarter machine and lost $280. As I was going to registration I stopped at a 2 coin $1 Wheel of Fortune game and I had intuition. I put a $20 in and pressed Max play and it came up to Spin. It stopped on $400. Yippee. I played two more times and got another spin, landed on $30. Played it down to $410 and printed my ticket.
Signed up for the tournament even though I can only play tomorrow because we leave Wed at 8AM. My play times are 11 & 3 on Tuesday and 11 AM on Wed. I also receive coupons for $50 in slot play. If I think I have a GOOD shot of winning the tournament I may stay on Wed and just pay the change fee.
I met up with Tom and we left to go downtown. As we were driving downtown, I noticed the Pawn Stars pawn shop so we stopped and went in. This is a show that is usually pretty interesting on the History channel. The actual name of the shop is Gold and Silver Pawn. Anyway it really doesn't look anything like it does on tv. It was pretty skuzzy and dirty looking. It was crowded with people. They had a lot of souvenir things like playing cards, t-shirts, key chains etc all very much over priced. We didn't buy anything and we didn't stay there long.
Parked in the Main Street Station lot and walked over to MSS to get my $3 parking fee back. Played a little vp and when I cashed out, it gave me $35 in quarters. I thought everybody was using paper now. Walked up to the Plaza to play some Let It Ride but they didn't have it. Tom made a sports bet then we walked up to the Fremont, watched one of the light shows on the way. We played Let It Ride for a couple of hours until it was time for our dinner reservation at Oscar's Steakhouse in the glass dome at the Plaza. I must say the Plaza is not even recognizable. It is so new and clean looking since they renovated and bought all the fixtures, furniture, bedding from the bankrupt Fountainbleu, We both lost some playing at Fremont but we had fun.
Our dinner at Oscar's (Oscar Goodman is the former Mayor, mob lawyer and promoter of LV), his wife is Mayor now, wink wink. The place is great. The view is of Fremont Street and all the light shows look stunning from this venue. The service was excellent. The bread was very good with a selection to choose from. I ordered the 8 oz Filet Mignon, Oscars chopped salad and Tom ordered the bone-in rib eye with soup, Lobster Bisque and we shared onion strings. The salad was good but not great, the. Bisque was ok, the onion strings were delicious and Tom said his steak was good but not as good as Outback. I ordered my filet pink (medium) it came out rare, I sent it back for a little more cooking time, it came back hotter but still pretty rare. I could also taste something that I shouldn't have on it, not sure what it was. It was worth going for me just for the place and the view but I doubt we will go back. Sports book was closed so we walked up to Fitzgeralds for Tom to cash his winning ticket.
Drove back put to Suncoast as Tom wanted to use his other coupon for $25 slot play. I played various machines, lost another $119. Left there at midnight, now resting in our nice room watching the Bellagio fountain as I write this. I really hope this isn't too long and boring. I am thinking about going back down to the casino. Will let you know in my next installment. BTW the mob museum doesn't open until 2/14.
