> did you both play with the machine set on "high"?
yes. we both "2-manned" the same, single, machine 3-play machine set on the fastest setting (she played the left picks, I played the right and the draw). but honestly, our play wasn't THAT fast. anyone who has played more than a couple of years would have EASILY kept up with what we were doing...either as a spectator or as a player. our absolute goal was to play perfect and we missed by 3 plays in 2000. 0.15% (assuming there wasn't an error we BOTH missed after the fact ... which is POSSIBLE, but not likely...we've learned VP in different ways...i think of charts from the top-down, she thinks of them from the bottom-up).
as an aside, I've watched MANY MANY people play VP, and ALL people I've seen who play break-neck speeds, I've seen make mistakes...including very "famous" VP players (yes, including the people you're thinking of right now). I'm not talking about crazy penalty card things or 1-in-a-jillion hands; I'm talking about straight forward stuff like middle suited connectors with a 2 on FPDW, or playing an A only on an AK board in 9/6 JoB.
to be very clear, this isn't me not keeping-up, or me misreading boards, it's them making mistakes.
there's a few, somewhat slower players, I've NEVER seen make a mistake.
I'm certain speed induces errors. I know there would have been many times more in my play if my GF hadn't have been right there with me.
but honestly it didn't feel break neck in the least...it was studious, but comfortable, 3 hours.
