Here's an example/possible counterargument:
As there was nothing worth using the points for, I let my Caesar's Total Rewards account just sit until there was about $22k face value there. In August there was a promotion from Las Vegas with a play-up for Tourneau (a watch store) credit. I knew one could use TR credits to buy additional Tourneau value, but considering the markup, etc, that might not be very much above the 2:1 cash exchange you can find around the system. But I asked my host anyway, and lo and behold it was a 1:1 exchange! I took about 4 new Rolexes with it. Nah nah, Caesar's!
