There was also an extended presence of Metro throughout town. These things happen under any circumstances, but to say Harrah's security ran for cover is simply wrong.

I heard different accounts than yours, Rob. I wasn't there so I'll take your word for it. In very early April that year I was in Vegas and picked up a copy of Gaming Today. I read where the Pioneer was set to install Acres's Gaming's Double Time System. I had plenty of experience with Acre's Lucky Coin and knew there was a possibility of leaks in the Double Time. So off to Laughlin I went.
At that time there were good things going on for machine pros all over the ocuntry. In Laughlin waiting for the Pioneer to start putting the system in I noticed hustler's piling into town that I hadn't seen in quite awhile. They were there for the same thing I was.
The startup for putting the system in kept getting delayed and it kept getting closer and closer to biker weekend and I was gonna have to clear out of Laughlin for those three days because there was no way in hell to get a hotel room. So I started hoping that it wouldn't go in until after biker weekend. But sure enough they started putting the first system in on Tuesday before the River Run. And sure enough it was lucrative as hell, only quarters but lucrative.
I had to pull out Thursday. I bussed up to Vegas, checked into the Golden Gate, and played poker for the next few days. I was up bright and early Sunday morning and had the TV on while getting cleaned up to head back to Laughlin. And here came the news over the TV about the shootout, roads blocked and all that sort of thing.
I got back into Laughlin Wednesday to find my hustler crew of friends working dollars. The first dollar bank had come up Sunday. I asked them how much they made Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. They had all made around $3000. I figure that's what that biker shootout cost me.
