I have read some posts on message boards about players not being able to
successfully complete this, either because the points were not properly
accounted for, or because they were hassled at the booth when trying to
redeem.

You had no issues, I assume?

Anything in the fine print to watch out for? Seemed pretty obvious, like no
multipliers. Was the free play available on the 9/6 JOB machines?

I am interested in checking out the remodeled Plaza on my next trip. I
haven't been there for years and I'm not sure if I ever joined up, so if I
didn't, I plan to take advantage of this.
