Re: [vpFREE] Sahara closing

Times have changed!  I remember staying there maybe 10 or 15 years ago, and it was nice then.  I have fond memories of it, although I doubt I would stay there now.  It IS sad though that the old places have closed, especially the Stardust.  Vegas won't be able to keep inventing itself, and recycling itself though, with the economy like it is?  I don't see it.  If TI goes downhill, for instance, would they just implode that and start over?  Or the Venetian, etc?  I hope not.  And it makes a big impact for over 1,000 people to lose their jobs, especially in these times.  Ouch.  I feel sorry for them.

Sad in a way though...I remember when Sahara was a fun place to stay.  We
would go there all the time when they had room rates like $11 per night
including 1 buffet per person (oh, and I think included free tix to
Boylesque!!!)!

Granted, that was a looooooong time ago and really another Vegas ago.  That
was before everything became mega resorts and room rates skyrocketed and (in
my opinion at least) Vegas lost a bit of its panache.

And believe it or not, I actually stayed at the IP when it first opened as
the IP .... with my PARENTS!  It was actually considered a pretty decent
property back then.

Times have changed haven't they?
