I believe Frank's numbers & his ability to play that long at such a high
level. I play only part-time but I can come approach some of his numbers
depending on the machine. In order to play that fast you have to zone out &
play every hand automatically & that's a bad habit for normal play although
it's a good habit for speed tournaments. Several reasons it's a bad habit
for normal play:
---On high-value hands, you should pause to make sure the right cards are
held.
---Carpal tunnel syndrome will affect you especially if you play a lot.
---It's bad for your health. I used to have a job maintaining a real-time
inventory for multiple warehouses which sometimes required 40 hrs straight
so when I started playing VP, it wasn't any problem to put in long hrs & I
once did 60 hrs straight. At some point, I began to think of the long-term
consequences to my health. (It may have been helped along by meeting some
mid-level professionals who had bad habits & were in poor shape physically.)
I began to plan my trips so that I could do session more efficiently &
compactly & also not trying to do as much as was on my plate. I now try to
make sure that I get enough rest because when you don't, you REALLY pay for it.
