Love that post. More reality from the real world of VP and not the hype.

Not relocated, but gone. Us dumb ass patrons were not supposed to notice this as they did the dirty deeds during the cover of the middle of the night. They are so smart. But, even being surrounded by a whole big building full of blinkety lights, I somehow managed to notice this disappearance. I was not worried though, for when I was there on Thursday, it seemed that about half of the inventory was still intact. Whew, their powerhouse best game of 8-5 BP was still going to be there, just not as plentiful as before. My visit today was quite another story. The rest of the remaining banks of multi play, ALL of them, BP has now been downgraded to 7-5. Not to worry. Here is a partial list of replacement games:
> Wild Taxi ( Hell, in Vegas, I thought that all the taxis were wild ), Money Stream ( certainly true for the casino ), Mystical Mermaid, Pharaoh’s Fortune, and the easily beatable Super Sally’s Shrimp Mania. Boy, those Cannery casino manglers sure have their fingers squarely on the pulse of what we are all looking for in a locals casino. Could it be that they are gearing up to be able to compete with the likes of Big Dog’s Bar and Grill over on Nellis? With our limited brainpower, we can only guess at the future plans concocted by the mensa level of genius that these manglers are gifted with. Warm weather is around the corner, so maybe one of the Bill Brothers needs a new boat. Plus, with the unrest in the mid east countries coupled with the more expensive low evaporation summer gas formula that we get from the California refineries, maybe they just want to insure they can afford a fill up or two. These events were probably meant to be just as trivial as when they tried to convince us that they wanted to compete with Stations by having 400 points equal a dollar in cash back, but we weren’t supposed to notice that the coin in required to earn those points quadrupled. We might just not be as stupid as they think we are. We can all send them a clear signal by not showing them our faces or our bankroll. For those of you that can’t stay away though, some advice. I meant to post on this earlier, but got distracted. The hi-low swipe days promotion where you get a card swipe for 25 points and one for 750 points, plus 5 X points, takes a total of $1,550 coin in. Minimum for low swipe is $3 in free play, and for the high swipe, $20 in free play, for a total of $28. Not a bad return, and they still, as of 8:00 p.m. tonight had 8-5 in single line .25 and up. Be forewarned, if you are thinking that you will do the easy method of 775 points all at one sitting, and then go do both your swipes and take them to the club to redeem, you will be in for a surprise. They will post your free play and code your account for 5 X points from that moment on for the rest of the day, but for none of the 775 pointsw that you just did. What you need to do is just play the 25 points and do your low swipe, redeem at the club and then ask for and you will get the 5 X multiplier on the 750 you do for the high swipe. Fortunately, we asked before we did this the first time. Did I mention how smart these Cannery folks are? One other little promotional quirk you may want to be aware of. The 799 point Thurs. play which will get you $20 in free play and a seafood buffet. The buffet voucher was always good for 30 days, so you did not have to use it on the day it was earned. Not anymore. Even though the voucher will still say good for 30 days, because they are going to some new surf and turf deal beginning next month, they can’t possibly let you use it then, as they might lose hundreds and hundreds of pennies on the deal. You will have to use any that you have currently by the end of the month. Did I mention how smart these folks are? When I inquired at the club that, if you are shortenting my time to use the buffet, but yet you still require me to earn the same 799 points, why not offer me free play in lieu of the buffet. They held their greedy ground and would not go for this idea. Whatever happened to the deal with the sale of the Cannery to Crown, the Aussie outfit that Kerry packer’s kid is a principal in? Last I saw was a couple years ago, some kind of hold was agreed to for a future purchase. If they were to buy it, how much worse could they be than what the current owners are doing to it. Maybe one of the online wewillhelpyouwithyourinvention.com places has a patent pending on a kit to turn slot and video poker machines into washers and dryers. The Cannotery could become the first mega mat in the valley. Washing, drying, dry cleaning, all in one giant location. A lock on that market. Or maybe convert the machines to popcorn makers, make popcorn out of every variety known to man, even out of the blue corn. Maybe a 70% gross margin, and they could just walk next door to the Galaxy theatre, with popcorn already in hand. Oh wait, that might be a problem as Galaxy makes most of their money on the concessions. Here’s an idea. What with the thousands of gaming related websites out there, there must be at least hundreds that accept posts, like we do here on vpFREE. We could all pitch in and help the Cannotery with some free advertising extolling the virtues of what they have done for us locals. Experts have said many times that word of mouth is the best and cheapest advertising a company can get. On this internet thingy, I call it word of mouse, and it’s targeted to folks that already have an interest in gambling. Come on, let’s win one for the gipper, ok? ok? zzzzzzzzzz. Or, it might be a hoot if the Cannotery were to become a real cannery. Hell, it’s about time that somebody gave Aunt Nellies pickled beets some real competition.
