I thought he was kidding when he said that. Maybe he was. It's difficult to tell sometimes with just the written word and no facial expression. I have the same problem, when I write, it's often difficult to tell whether I am kidding or being an a-hole. No really, seriously, I know it's hard to believe.

Get used to it. With higher minimum wages across the country, lower skill jobs will continue to be automated. We've already seen it with self checkouts and ATMs. The casinos around my area have replaced a lot of cocktail waitresses with serve yourself beverage stations. Pretty soon you'll be ordering from a kiosk at your local fast food chain. So it doesn't surprise me there wasn't a slot attendant to be found.
