Meredith,
If you're going to let a couple of miscreants who elected to bait you, rather than just ignore you when you posted something that annoys them, then it's best you do take you leave.
But the truth is that you haven't been ganged up on, and the best course of action is simply to ignore them.
In terms of the information you seek, I don't think you'll find a better source (nor, generally speaking, a better spirited one) than this group.
Sometimes a post may not draw reply. Just a fact of life. What's called for, in some cases, is a redraft that specifically focuses on what you most want to know.
In terms of your specific quest for information that would lead you to conduct your recreational play in a more "professional" spirit, at the core it really comes down to playing only when you have an advantage, avoiding play outside of that, and always playing within your bankroll. There are certainly refinements, but
if you stick to this, you aren't likely to steer wrong.

[vpFREE] LVA Question of the Day - 10 FEB 2011
LVA Question of the Day - 10 FEB 2011
Q: I have been reading your QOD for quite some time now and
I don't think I've ever seen this mentioned. I'm thinking of
moving to Las Vegas and would like to be close to the
casinos as that's where I plan on working. Is it possible to
actually live in one of the Strip hotels? Get a monthly rate
(even if it would change by the month because of holidays,
special events) or is there a limit on how long you can
stay?
